1350 items on Iran’s intangible cultural heritage list

TEHRAN – The number of items inscribed on Iran’s intangible cultural heritage list has reached 1350, as a sum of 23 definitions have been recently registered, an Iranian cultural official announced in a press release on Tuesday.

Farhad Nazari who presides over the office for inscription of properties and revitalization of intangible and natural heritage, said the recently registered items include rituals, skills, and performances and are native to Khorasan and Fars provinces.

Amongst the Iranian entries to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list are Radif of Iranian music, traditional skills of carpet weaving in Kashan, ritual dramatic art of Ta’ziye, music of the Bakhshis of Khorasan and Qalishuyan rituals of Mashhad-e Ardehal near Kashan.
